Background

I am Cecil Xavier, a Principal Business Analyst in the UK Public Sector, and I bring over a decade of experience. My journey in this field has been enriching, mainly through mentoring multiple batches of Level 4 Apprentice Business Analysts and numerous Junior and Senior Business Analysts. This blog is an extension of that mentorship, aiming to share the wealth of knowledge and insights I've gained over the years.

Objectives

The idea for this blog sprang from a realisation: while formal training for Business Analysts is excellent for foundational learning, it often needs more practical tools and implementation strategies. This blog is here to bridge that gap. It's designed to offer practical insights and tools that complement what you've learned in formal training, enhancing your ability to apply your skills in the real world.

Scope

The focus of this blog is to augment, not duplicate, your formal training. You'll find references to established techniques, providing context and deeper understanding, but the primary aim is to introduce new ideas and practical tools. It's about adding to your toolkit, not rehashing what you already know.

Constraints

This blog operates under the philosophy of "standing on the shoulders of giants." It acknowledges the foundational work done by others in the field and builds upon it rather than trying to reinvent the wheel.

Assumptions

The primary assumption is that you, as a reader, are keen to expand your horizons. You're expected to use the ideas introduced here as a springboard for further research and skill development. The blog aims to ignite curiosity and guide your learning journey, empowering you to delve deeper into each subject.

Risks

It's important to note that this blog is not a training program. It's designed to complement formal training, introducing ideas and stimulating further exploration and development. The risk assumes it can replace formal education – it cannot and does not aim to.

Deliverables

Expect a new monthly post, each carefully crafted to introduce a fresh, relevant concept or tool in business analysis. These posts are intended to provoke thought, inspire research, and help you develop your skills, one topic at a time.

This blog is more than just a collection of articles; it's a mentorship journey for those eager to expand their knowledge and capabilities in the dynamic field of business analysis. Welcome aboard!
